Our Mission

As parents, it’s our desire to understand our child’s developmental journey, so we may better support them through all of their unique growth opportunities. At SmartySprout, our mission is to enthusiastically empower and inspire parents with an understanding of their child’s developmental stages, so they may provide the best support their child requires for success at every age!

Why we started SmartySprouts

Do you find it interesting that we study how to get a job, we pass a test for our driver’s license, we train for a sport, but few of us ever even think of learning to be a better parent?

I remember having this exact thought as my wife and I expected our first child. Both of us have wonderful loving parents, and we wanted to be the best parents for our children. We knew love and determination would get us most of the way , but… it was hard not to feel at least somewhat unprepared for what awaited us in a short 9 months.

Both of us have backgrounds in science, and we enjoy learning everything we can about a new and exciting subject, like parenting. However, we quickly discovered that while there was an abundance of parenting information, much of it was highly speculative/anecdotal with little or no supporting evidence or… locked away in mind numbingly complicated scientific articles on child development and brain research. Although highly relevant and instructive, the latter was anything but easily accessible for busy parents.

In diving into the subject of parenting, we immediately felt there was abundant opportunity for disseminating research-based information in more easily digestible content for busy parents.

Studying child development and good parenting practices became our passion. We want to empower parents with the understanding of their child’s developmental journey so they may better provide the targeted support their child needs to nurture success at every stage.

At SmartySprout, we believe a little bit of knowledge goes a long way in helping good parents become great parents!

Our Child Centered Approach

Parents are confronted with numerous difficult and highly consequential decisions in raising a child. From us at SmartySprout - We sincerely understand how difficult it is to make these important decisions, and we realize these times can be some of the most challenging and trying aspects of parenting.

Each of us parents must decide:

• Should I put my career on hold to stay at home for my child?

• Should I hold my child back a year in school?

• Did I do the wrong thing when I…?

• Do I apologize to my child when …?

• When should I push and when should I back off on my child’s performance?

The best decisions are always specific to each family, but in our child centric approach, we exclude other factors to focus solely on what research shows are the best practices for the child.

Our Values

Faith – Our family has been blessed in so many ways. Helping others is central to our faith and our mission at SmartySprout. Faith plays a critical role in our parenting, and we hope to inspire others through our love of God.

Family - Becoming a parent creates one of life’s most incredible relationships as you bond with your child and help shape them into the person they become in the future. Great parenting creates deep and lasting relationships for generations of love and family support.

Friends - The most rewarding aspects of life are our relationships with others. Beyond our family, it is our friends who give us purpose and meaning.
